Foraging worker ants think the bait is food and carry it into the mound to feed their extensive colonies. Once the queen is fed, she can no longer produce new ants. Without new ants, the colony starves - and you can get back to enjoying your yard. Imported fire ants, native fire ants, harvester ants, bigheaded ants and other ants (except carpenter and Pharaoh ants). For best results, apply in early morning or late afternoon when ants are most active and the soil temperature exceeds 60 degree F. Do not apply when the ground is overly wet or heavy rains are expected. Lawns, landscaped areas and ornamental gardens. Do not use on vegetables or other food crops. For large infested areas, Broadcast at a rate of 1 pound per 1,000 square feet for heavy infestations. For light infestations, broadcast 1 pound per 2,000 square feet.
